Due to various complexities in real-world systems, intelligent optimization algorithms have been successfully applied to complex problems in a variety of engineering fields which cannot be solved effectively by traditional methods. Inspired by the behavior, experience, and cognition from nature and society systems, data-driven intelligent optimization aims to achieve consistent results effectively and efficiently based on the mechanisms of computational intelligence. During the past decade, increasing attention has been paid to theoretical analysis, algorithm design, and performance improvement of intelligent optimization as well as a wide range of applications especially scheduling problems. Intelligent optimization and scheduling theory, algorithms and applications have become frontier researches full of both opportunities and challenges. The aim of this Special Section is to reflect the state-of-the-art of intelligent optimization and scheduling (IOS) with interdisciplinary developments, providing a platform to share innovative work in such an emerging and significant area.
Scope of Topics
This Special Section aims to reflect the most recent developments of IOS. The topics of interest include, but are not limited to

● Theory of intelligent optimization;
● Design of intelligent optimization algorithms;
● Performance analysis of intelligent optimization algorithms;
● Multi-objective intelligent optimization;
● Uncertain intelligent optimization;
● Intelligent scheduling for manufacturing and logistics systems;
● Intelligent scheduling for communication systems;
● Intelligent scheduling for transportation systems;
● Applications of intelligent optimization in other practical systems.
Authors should prepare papers according to the format requirements of Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics, with reference to the Instruction given at http://www.jseepub.com, and submit the Word version of the complete manuscript through the online submission system. When submitting the paper, the title format should be “Title (special section on IOS)”.
